An Introduction to Error

“An Introduction to Error explores how facts align, or misalign, with the heart, where “error” isn’t fault but space to see more clearly. Lockwood’s poems reveal how, as she writes, “I ran in socks / across the carpet, thrilled / with fright but powerless.” In signal poems like “My Chemistry,” in which the methods of tracking ocean currents resonate with Lockwood’s personal exploration of time and yearning, inquiry drives both science and the lyric impulse, linking them to our reach for truths that keep slipping away. “Error” isn’t failure, but a lyric path through mystery and doubt. Science and soul collide in this dazzling collection.”
