Sculptural Secrets for Mosaics

Follow a professional mosaic artist through the process of making six sculptures, demonstrating the techniques on a variety of interior and exterior works, both freestanding and wall mounted, through over 175 photographs.

With easy-to-follow guidance and more than 175 photos, this book helps mosaic artists meet the challenge of creating
3-D substrates. It explains various approaches to issues ranging from reaching the needed levels of density and strength to applying tesserae to coils, twists, and spheres.

Professional studio mosaic artist Latimer offers a behind-the-scenes look at her experiences with six of her sculptures, from the
starting moments of inspiration to their completion. She demonstrates the techniques on a variety of interior and exterior works, both freestanding and wall mounted.

From an undulating wall sculpture’s base of chicken wire, plaster bandages, and thinset, to a large outdoor armchair sculpture’s base of foam, fiberglass mesh, and concrete, this guide will help to demystify 3-D structures for aspiring sculptors and mosaic artists. A gallery section of
sculptures to enjoy and study offers additional inspiration to mosaic makers and enthusiasts alike.[AuthorName]By Julee Latimer and Foreword by Debrah C.
