Searching for Ann Walker

Searching for Ann Walker is a non-fiction anthology that shines a light on the life of Ann Walker, wife of renowned nineteenth century Yorkshire diarist Anne Lister. The authors of this book not only explore Ann’s relationship with Lister, but also delve into her friendships, travel adventures, business dealings, mental health and life after her wife’s death. Despite the challenges she faced during her life, Ann Walker defied societal norms to live with the woman she loved. This anthology brings Ann to the forefront, painting a detailed portrait of a courageous, complex woman who was part of one of Britain’s first documented lesbian unions.
